Preparing for Spring

The changing of the seasons is often a time of renewal — a sort of "out with the old and in with the new" attitude. It's a time when the days get longer and the nights shorter, flowers start to blossom, spring cleaning is added to the agenda and we start to prepare our bodies for the summer.

Here are Kabinga Retreat's top five tips for prepping for Spring:

1. Spring Cleaning
A clean space can make us happier and more productive, but staying healthy and combating sickness is another reason to dust, scrub and disinfect your home. Springtime is when we give the Kabinga gardens a revamp - planting herbs, getting out the sun loungers and preparing the pool for the summer.

2. Meditation
When was the last time you stopped and smelled the roses? By adding 10 minutes of meditation to your daily routine you can lower anxiety and stress levels, increase your self-esteem and self-confidence, not to mention boost your immune system.

At Kabinga we use mala beads to help guide us through our meditation sessions. They allow us to focus the mind on a single pointed task as we work through our meditation. We are pleased to announce the Kabinga shop has introduced some beautiful wooden malas inset with turquoise and coral from India.

3. Kitchen Makeover
Give your kitchen a healthy makeover by getting rid of processed and unhealthy foods and replacing them with whole, natural foods instead. And don’t forget to start introducing super-foods into your diet: cinnamon, blueberries, turmeric, ginger, and of course, kale.

4. Bee Pollen
Springtime for us unfortunately also means allergies. Organic bee pollen is a complete food containing 96 nutrients, including all of the vitamins our bodies need and many minerals, enzymes, and amino acids. It also has anti-fungal properties and is a preventative for hay fever and allergies. We add bee pollen to our morning ritual by sprinkling it over cereals or blending it into our breakfast smoothies... Helps keep sneezing to a minimum!
